Just because someone is a good author, football player, actor, or whatever doesn't mean they know anything about spiritual matters. Celebrities have no unique expertise in religion.

But really, the blog wasn't about Anne Rice, it was about Christianity dying and the fact that Rice's defection isn't even surprising these days.Craig A. Ah, well.... guess I need to stay more up to date on such things.Rhohttp://elisair.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3381224391260954323.post-58873682214913183452010-08-10T12:47:03.502-07:002010-08-10T12:47:03.502-07:00You have to remember that it wasn't that long ...You have to remember that it wasn't that long ago that Anne Rice became a fundamentalist Christian and denounced all of her silly vampire books. She doesn't strike me as someone who is particularly stable to begin with, she leaps from thing to thing, looking for something that I doubt she knows what it is. I don't take her so-called defection as anything meaningful in and of itself, tomorrow she'll adopt Islam or something and in another couple of years, she'll defect once again.

She seems to be all-around defective.

However, the rest of your points are well made, Christianity, and indeed all religion, is in trouble. As human technology and society move forward, there's less and less call for magical men in the sky to explain the world around us and that means, there's little reason to buy into the religious nonsense, especially as we see the horrors of religion in action in suicide bombers and pedophile priests.

Goodbye religion and good riddance.Cephushttp://bitchspot.jadedragononline.comnoreply@blogger.com
