Pope Reaffirms It: All you Gays are Immoral

Sadly, but not surprisingly, Pope Benedict XVI has just reconfirmed that homosexuality can never be "morally just."

All of you gays and lesbians, sorry, but your sexuality is "against the nature that God originally willed." It's still an abomination.

But wait, there's good news! Your God-given sexual preference is "a great trial." God has singled you out, sort of like Job. The Pope himself said so!

Remember Job? Job was your basic good guy: pious, kind and loyal. But God took a bet with Satan as to whether Job was just a fair-weather friend. To test Job's mettle, God let Satan kill all of Job's children, and when that didn't turn Job away from God, Satan tortured Job with boils all over his body that were so horrible that Job tried to scrape them with broken pottery. And after all that, Job still didn't turn away from God.

So don't think of yourselves as getting some sort of raw deal. God has given you a test! You get to go through life longing for love, but God demands that you deny yourself the consummation of your love, to never join body and soul and experience the wonders and beauty of human sexuality. Just think what an opportunity this is to show what a good Catholic you are!

Why, the rest of us should be jealous. We've got it easy. We get to fall in love, get married and have happy, healthy sex lives. What's the challenge in that? How are we supposed to show God that we're worthy?

  1. The only thing being tested is how much longer they'll put up with Pope Palpatine and his Sith teachings.

  2. and yet another attack on character. are you really so desperate for posts, that you have to resort to attacking the words of an individual. like i said before any half-brained idiot can attack character. i still can't believe you waisted a whole post on me, some random guy on the internet. I'll give a try at the lazy mans argument, myself. All atheist are immoral, fascist, and all around bad people because ONE guy had to run in Saint Patricks Cathedral and throw used condoms everywhere. but hey, to your (small) credit, you make one or two good points, which most of the time have little to do with religion its self. you just had to show your blunt and disrespectful side when you had to personally attack me. well im done being in "enemy territory". ill read your book when i find it in a bargain bin, because any book retailer will know it to be a poor excuse to make a quick buck off of the success of the God delusion

  3. I fail to see where Craig has at any time insulted the character of the Pope. The entire article simply reveals the utter idiocy of his words and the backwardness of his opinions.

Please note that "attack on character" !== "attacking the words of an individual".

  4. If any character says something stupid, it deserves to be atacked, not respected. The pope says stupid things all the time. He doesn't deserve any respect for that. What he deserves is mockery.

  5. Isaac, I'm sorry if you feel attacked; it surely wasn't my intention. I used your comments because I thought your question was concise and a topic that I wanted to address. You wrote that you "really don't like how your over all theme shows that there is no way God could exist." It seemed like a good question, and I after writing my response to you, I thought it was interesting enough to expand it into a whole blog. I'm re-reading it now and I just don't see why you feel I was attacking you or your character. You asked a question, I answered it.

The same here ... where do you see anything I said that attacks character? I think the Pope's policies are immoral and his reasoning is flawed. I wrote a sarcastic article about how the Roman Catholic Church treats gays and lesbians. There isn't one word in it about the Pope's character.

oh right, so its ok for militant atheists to say all sorts of stupid things and be disrespectful

Craig- honestly i only schemed until i saw you bash the book of Job, then stopped, but i do recall seeing older posts of you being terribly ignorant. and boy, i really wish we could have another Pope John Paul, because with him, there was significantly less bashing. also the book of Job is a very heavily attacked book, did you ever ask a religious scholar what it is about, what it means, and how we view it, or do you assume we take it literally. when Catholics talk about homosexuals, we are talking about the homosexual lifestyle which is sinful, just as per marriageable sex is. a gay person and a straight person whom both have a lot of sex are both equally sinful, and are equally forgiven through confession. you make it seem as though we are like the westburus, we do not condemn them.

some of your commenters say some of the most unintelligent things. you said something about "intolerance meme" or something like that. and militant atheist are very intolerant. you seriously cant like the hypocritical nature of some of you readers. i mean, you talk about a lot of religious intolerance and hypocrites, but what do you say about the intolerance and hypocrites of atheist with blind faith. your militant readers will see you make the occupational dick comment and they will have a green light to say something completely stupid. on the other hand, if you showed a little bit of respect then maybe it could rob off on your readers. did you ever address some immoral actions or word of militant atheist? can you ever try to think about things from the other side's point of view, or is that to much for you? did you ever talk to a religious scholar?

  12. Isaac the problem is when a huge group of the population believe that one man is the one voice of God here on earth, and he's just a old power mad fart. Also if you have ever talked to a religious scholar you'd realize it's all just a collection of stories, yup it's just a book, written by men 2000 years ago.
